Handover zones for parking Autonapul shared cars in Prague
What are the rules for parking shared cars?
During the operation hours of blue and purple zones (typically Mon-Fri 8 AM-8 PM, but this may vary by city area), it is not allowed to stop for free during your reservation in blue or purple zones with a shared car, you must pay for parking.
Payment can be made via so-called virtual parking meters (mpla.cz/praha) or at a parking meter in purple or orange zones. Maximum parking time is 3 hours. More info at www.parkujvklidu.cz. The responsibility for paying parking fees from pickup to return of the car always lies with the driver or registered user.
Once you return the car at the end of your reservation, it is no longer a problem to park in blue or purple zones without paying. Just watch out for temporary restrictions, such as street cleaning bans.
Basic division of parking zones in Prague
Blue - marked by blue lines on the street and traffic signs, reserved for residents. You can park a shared car here for free at the END of your reservation. You can also pay for parking DURING your reservation via the Virtual Parking Meter web app (mpla.cz/praha).
Purple - marked by vertical traffic signs, with a broken white line on the street, called mixed parking. You can park a shared car here at the END of your reservation or after paying at a parking meter or via the Virtual Parking Meter web app (mpla.cz/praha). Parking DURING your reservation is allowed after payment.
Orange - marked by vertical traffic signs, called short-term parking, time-limited. You can park here with a shared car ONLY DURING your reservation after payment. Payment is possible at a parking meter or via the Virtual Parking Meter web app (mpla.cz/praha).
Warning: Do not park in some special places
Never park or leave the car where parking is prohibited for everyone. Examples include:
spots reserved for a specific vehicle (marked by an additional sign with the license plate)
spots temporarily reserved for a certain entity (e.g., office, company, hotel)
spots payable only at a parking meter (you can park there during your reservation at your own cost, but please do not leave the car there)
parking behind barriers
on pedestrian crossings
in driveways
Tip for paying parking fees
The mapy.cz app by Seznam can display the zones and provides direct payment links when you tap on them, so you don’t need to look for the code on signs. Just search your location on mapy.cz and pay comfortably from your car. A similar service is offered by the PID Lítačka app.
The advantage of online payment over street meters is the ability to extend your reservation. You don’t have to plan everything in advance.
Autonapul Handover Zones
Autonapul operates a so-called round-trip carsharing. You reserve the car in advance and return it after your trip, either to a fixed station or within a designated zone. It is ideal for planned trips, longer journeys, or weekend getaways. Thanks to advance reservations, you are guaranteed a car when you need one.
This system also effectively replaces private cars. Users really use these cars instead of owning their own and often combine their rides with public transport or cycling. For example, one Autonapul fleet car replaces fifteen to twenty private cars.
Several handover zones operate in Prague. You pick up and return the car within the same zone. (It doesn’t have to be the exact same parking spot, only the zone.) The exact pickup address appears in the reservation system (Android / iOS) after your previous reservation ends.
