Street block cleaning

Be careful where you park. Block street cleaning traditionally takes place in spring and autumn.

We recommend paying close attention to traffic signs. Block cleaning is always accompanied by local traffic modifications and parking restrictions on streets marked with temporary traffic signs installed at least 7 days in advance. These are portable no stopping signs showing the date and time of the cleaning.

Parking of shared vehicles

In the case of Autonapul shared vehicles, do not rely on the fact that someone else has a reservation after you, as it can be canceled at any time. If there is a sign warning about block cleaning where you parked, do not leave the car there at all. This helps you avoid fines. The user of the vehicle is responsible for proper parking even after their reservation ends.

When block street cleaning is not taking place, remember that as a shared car user, you have privileged parking in city centers not only in Prague but also in Brno.

Where to find street cleaning schedules

Information about block street cleaning can be found on city and municipal district websites, as well as from service providers.

Brno

Brno Roads even offer an app that allows you to “stay informed anytime and anywhere.”

Prague

The Technical Road Administration (TSK) has prepared an interactive map with the maintenance schedule.

Beware of vehicle towing

Street cleaning regulations are governed by legislation §19a, §19b of Act No. 13/1997 Coll., on road communications, as amended. Ignoring the signage can lead to vehicle towing under §19b paragraph 1. Usually, two scenarios occur:

  1. Vehicles are towed and parked in another suitable location (side street, transfer or towing area) and then returned to the original place they were removed from, called a return tow.

  2. Vehicles are loaded onto tow trucks and after cleaning are returned directly from the tow truck, called a technical procedure.

For example, in Brno, the fee for a technical procedure or return tow at the site is set at 1,500 CZK including VAT.
