Frequently asked questions
Requirements for Registration with Autonapůl
If you wish to register with Autonapůl, you only need to meet a few requirements.
Minimum age: You must be at least 18 years old. Autonapůl will not allow you to drive if you are 17.
Valid documents: Driver’s license and national ID card.
To use Autonapůl, it is necessary to add a payment card to the reservation application.
More information: How to start driving with Autonapůl.
Using Autonapůl carsharing is simple.
You find a car in the app, reserve it for free, check for any damage, unlock it using the application (Android / iOS), start your trip, lock the car with the key during your reservation, and park the car in the designated zone or parking spot. After ending the rental, you will receive an invoice via email. Our Help line is available to you 24/7.
Billing and reservation changes
How is a reservation billed?
The price of a reservation consists of several components:
Time fee: The billed time corresponds to the length of the reservation as set in the booking system at the time the reservation starts. If you later shorten the reservation or end the trip early, it will not affect the final price. Therefore, we recommend making changes before the reservation begins. (If the final hour of the reservation is not used, you won’t be charged for it - read on.)
Distance fee: Each kilometer is billed according to the Price list. The driving cost (distance) is calculated as the sum of the rate for up to 200 km, plus any distance over 200 km or 500 km.
The reservation price also includes a start fee equal to one hour and possibly Jistota plus insurance.
More info: Price list.
How can I calculate the cost of a reservation?
If you want to estimate your costs in advance, use the calculator in the Autonapul app (Android / iOS). Just enter the planned trip parameters, and the calculator will show you an estimated cost. The actual billed amount will depend on the final length and distance of your trip.
The in-app calculator already includes Jistota plus insurance, start fee, etc. It’s personalized for your account. (The web calculator does not reflect your personal settings.)
What is the allowed reservation duration?
Reservations are billed in half-hour increments. In case of overtime, each started half-hour is billed.
There’s no limit to how long a reservation can be or how many kilometers you drive.
For long-term rentals, we offer special conditions.
What does the 24-hour price cap mean?
If your reservation exceeds 10 hours, the daily maximum rate applies. The hourly rate is reduced proportionally. For each 24 hours of reservation, you pay the equivalent of 10 hours. (e.g. 16 hours = 10 hours billed, 29 hours = 15 hours, 49 hours = 21 hours, etc.)
Reservation time is billed from the scheduled start and ‘day’ means 24 hours from that moment (not a calendar day).
Can I add buffer time at the end of a reservation?
You automatically have a built-in buffer - the final hour of the reservation. If this hour isn’t used, you’re not charged. Always set your reservation to be one hour longer than you actually plan to use the car. This helps avoid overtime and conflicts with the next user.
How can I cancel, shorten or end a reservation?
Always make changes before the reservation begins. (The start time is defined in the app, not when you pick up the car.) Changes or cancellations before the reservation starts are free of charge - no cancellation fees.
If you shorten or cancel a reservation after it has started, you will be charged according to the Price list. From the moment of ending the reservation, a maximum of the daily rate applies. The same rule applies: 24 hours = 10 billed hours.
Vehicle insurance and what to do in case of an accident
Are the cars insured?
Yes, all cars have liability insurance. Even in the event of an accident, we’ve got you covered. The Price list guarantees a maximum deductible for damages caused by you - no more than CZK 50,000, even for the newest and most expensive vehicles. You can also purchase Jistota plus insurance, which reduces your deductible to CZK 5,000.
Insurance is valid throughout the EU.
How is the deductible calculated (Standard rate and Jistota plus)?
If you’re not at fault in an accident, you pay nothing. The costs are covered by the liable party’s insurer.
If you are at fault, the deductible is calculated as CZK 10,000 + 25 % of the damage exceeding CZK 10,000, with a maximum of CZK 50,000.
Examples:
| Damage | Deductible | |
|---|---|---|
| CZK 3,000 | CZK 3,000 | full damage amount |
| CZK 100,000 | CZK 32,500 | 10 000 + 0,25 x 90 000 |
| CZK 200,000 | CZK 50,000 | maximum deductible |
Jistota plus insurance significantly lowers your deductible. With it, the maximum you’ll pay is CZK 5,000.
The cost of the insurance equals the price of one hour of reservation (based on vehicle category). It is billed per reservation and does not depend on the duration or kilometers driven. The deductible is invoiced.
How do I activate Jistota plus insurance?
To activate (or cancel) Jistota plus, send us a request by email or call our Help line. You can check your insurance status in the app under the Price list tab.
Insurance can be activated immediately by calling the Help line. It cannot be added to an already started reservation.
What should I do in case of an accident?
If you’re involved in a car accident, first ensure everyone’s safety. In case of injuries, call emergency services. You must report the accident to the police, even in case of minor damage - since the car is owned by Autonapul, a third party not present at the scene. The police will prepare a report and determine fault, which affects your deductible. Don’t forget to fill out the “Accident report” form located in every car and take photos.
If you’re unsure about anything, don’t hesitate to call our Help line - we’re here for you. People’s safety comes first; we’ll help resolve any damage to the car.
I caused minor damage to the car.
If you cause minor damage - e.g. a scratch while parking - and it’s not an accident, there’s no need to call the police. Please take photos of the damage and send them to us via the app or email autonapul@autonapul.cz. We’ll review the case and let you know the next steps.
Please also call our Help line - the sooner we know, the sooner we can solve the issue. The deductible rules are the same as for an at-fault accident. Thank you for being responsible and transparent.
Payments and billing
What is the security deposit?
The deposit is a refundable security amount of CZK 5,000 that you pay when joining Autonapul. It is not used to cover ride or service costs.
If you decide to end your membership, the deposit is returned in full within 30 days (usually sooner). If you have unpaid invoices, the deposit will be used to cover them.
If you want to access the reservation system without paying a security deposit, you can choose the No Deposit +5% tariff. This plan increases trip prices by +5% compared to the basic Price list. The Jistota plus additional insurance is not available with this tariff.
Why is the deposit required?
The deposit serves as a financial security measure. It covers potential vehicle damage or unpaid rides. It helps ensure user responsibility and simplifies handling unexpected costs.
If there are no issues, the deposit remains untouched and is refunded when you leave the service.
If you want to access the reservation system without paying a security deposit, you can choose the No Deposit +5% tariff. This plan increases trip prices by +5% compared to the basic Price list. The Jistota plus additional insurance is not available with this tariff.
How does card payment for a reservation work?
You need to save your payment card in the Autonapul app. About 24 hours before your reservation starts, your bank will pre-authorize the estimated ride cost. This is usually higher than what the calculator shows to cover possible extensions or longer trips.
After the ride ends, the final price is calculated based on actual time and kilometers. Then the blocked amount is adjusted and the actual cost is charged.
Any excess is automatically refunded to your account. After every ride, you’ll receive two emails: a payment confirmation and a detailed invoice.
Payment authorization on my card 24h before the reservation failed
If the payment authorization on your card for your upcoming reservation was unsuccessful, you will not be able to start it. In most cases, the authorization fails because the card has expired, there are insufficient funds available, or the payment requires additional verification before we can process it.
To ensure everything goes smoothly, please check that your payment details are correct.
If the payment still cannot be processed, cancel the reservation immediately to avoid being charged. If the start time has already passed, adjust the reservation so that it ends as soon as possible. And don’t forget, our Help line is available for you.
Can I use different payment methods for personal and business trips?
Yes, if you use Autonapul for both personal and work purposes, you can set up separate payment methods.
Private rides can be paid by card, while business trips can be invoiced to your company. Just make sure to check the “business trip” box when making a reservation. Contact us if you’d like to set this up.
Can I pay by direct debit?
Yes, direct debit is possible. If interested, send your bank account number and your request to fakturace@autonapul.cz.
In your internet banking, authorize direct debit to Autonapul’s account: 2300203634/2010 (FIO bank).
We recommend setting the frequency to once a month and the limit to double your highest invoice. No variable, specific, or constant symbols are needed.
Can I invoice some reservations to another person?
Yes, you can have some of your rides invoiced to another person, such as your employer or company.
Just email the billing details to fakturace@autonapul.cz, and we’ll provide information on how to proceed.
What purchases will you reimburse and what not?
We’ll reimburse you for standard fuel, LPG, and EV charging (premium fuel is not covered). We also cover essential fluids, bulbs, and other vehicle consumables. Car wash services are reimbursed with a receipt; self-service washing and vacuuming are accepted even without a tax document. On-the-road repairs are only reimbursed with prior phone approval.
We do not cover premium fuels, repairs after a self-caused accident, foreign highway tolls (Czech toll is included), unauthorized towing, expenses without receipts (except washing/vacuuming), or unapproved maintenance.
How does the reimbursement of expenses work?
Expenses not paid with the CCS card will be reimbursed by means of a credit note, which we issue at the beginning of the following month. Based on this, the money will be sent to your bank account. In the case of monthly billing, the expenses will be reflected in the regular invoice.
What about traffic fines?
Any fines you are responsible for, which we receive as the vehicle owner, will be recharged to you. We will issue an invoice at the beginning of the following month. The invoiced amount will then be charged to your payment card. In the case of monthly billing, fines will be included in the regular invoice.
We only report the responsible party to the authorities if requested.
Travel abroad
Can I take the car abroad?
Yes, Autonapul cars can be taken abroad without restrictions.
Insurance - including Jistota plus - is valid in all EU countries.
You don’t need to notify us in advance, you can switch drivers freely, and there’s no mileage limit.
Will you reimburse me for refueling abroad?
Yes, we will reimburse you for refueling abroad.
Our CCS card only works in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, so in other countries you pay yourself and we will reimburse the amount in CZK based on the CNB exchange rate valid on the date of purchase. The expense must be documented with a tax receipt - simply take a photo during your reservation and submit it via the “Expenses” button in the app or later by email. Then place the paper receipt with your signature in the green folder inside the vehicle.
How to charge an electric car abroad?
For possible trips abroad, keep in mind that CCS cards primarily run on the E.ON system. If E.ON provides charging in the country you are visiting, you can use it through so-called roaming. See the E.ON Drive map.
For less experienced users or longer trips, the Routeplanner can be very helpful.
Do the cars have vignettes for neighboring countries?
Some cars in the Autonapul fleet are also equipped with vignettes for Slovakia or Austria (all cars have the Czech vignette).
You’ll find this information in the description of each specific car, so you can choose one that suits your travel plans. The easiest way to filter this is using the desktop version of the reservation system.
If you choose a car without a foreign vignette, you’ll need to purchase one yourself. We recommend the official online shops for Austria shop.asfinag.at and Slovakia eznamky.sk.
What to do in case of an accident abroad?
Follow the same procedure as in the Czech Republic. In the event of a traffic accident, always make sure all participants are safe first. If anyone is injured, call emergency services. You must report the accident to the police, even if the damage is minor - the vehicle belongs to Autonapul, a third party not directly involved in the accident. The police will prepare a report and determine fault, which is important for evaluating potential liability. Don’t forget to fill out the “Accident report” form available in every car, ideally including photos.
Contact our Help line - we are here for you 24/7. We’ll help you handle the situation.
Vehicle use and equipment
How do I pay with the CCS card?
Refuel, take the CCS card from the green folder in the glovebox, and go to the cashier saying you want to pay with a CCS card. On the CCS terminal, choose “Sale”, confirm the amount, and enter the PIN, which is on the key tag and inside the green folder.
Gas stations that accept CCS show the CCS logo. If you can’t pay with the CCS card, use another payment method.
You must document refueling with a tax receipt, add your name, and place it in the envelope in the green folder in the glovebox. For faster processing, you can also upload the receipt via the “Expenses” button in the app.
For companies, we recommend using CCS cards as they make accounting easier.
The car is messy or damaged.
Please let us know as soon as possible via the Help line and we’ll look into it together. For a quick resolution of the issue, please send a message directly through the app using the button next to your current reservation. Please also attach photos to your message. Alternatively, you can send everything directly to the email address autonapul@autonapul.cz.
Thank you for helping us keep the cars in great condition.
I forgot something in the car or found something inside.
If the car has not been reserved in the meantime, you can unlock it again via the app or your card and retrieve your items without making a new reservation. However, the system won’t allow further driving without a valid reservation. If a longer time has passed since you left the vehicle, please contact the Help line.
If you find someone else’s item in the car, leave it there and report the find via the app.
What should I know about hybrids, LPG, or electric cars?
Hybrids in our fleet do not need charging - they are used just like regular cars with combustion engines.
You’ll find instructions on how to refuel LPG vehicles and more in our dedicated article. Don’t worry, it’s easy. You can also ask the gas station staff for help.
For more info on electric cars, their charging and specific use cases, check this link. You’ll also find tips for apps showing charger locations.
How to use Carplay or Android Auto, are there phone holders in the cars?
Our shared cars have phone holders or support Android Auto or Carplay.
Special equipment - boosters, roof rails, tow bars, etc.?
Special equipment like child boosters, roof rails, tow bars, foreign vignettes, and environmental stickers is included in the reservation price.
The easiest way to find which cars have this equipment is to use the desktop version of the reservation system, which allows easy filtering.
More tips for your trips
Can someone else drive the car I booked?
Yes, another person can drive the car if you entrust it to them during your reservation. However, you remain responsible for following Autonapul rules and for any damages, so it’s important that the other driver is also familiar with the guidelines.
Autonapul discount with CD Points.
Thanks to cooperation between Autonapul and Czech Railways, you can turn your train rides into carsharing discounts. You can redeem CD Points each month for a discount on Autonapul rides.
You’ll find all the details on how to claim the reward in this article.
How do I terminate the framework agreement?
If you decide to terminate your framework agreement with Autonapul, just email us at autonapul@autonapul.cz.
Please include your account number so we can return your deposit or issue a credit note. We’d also appreciate a short note on why you decided to leave the service.
If you wish to return to Autonapul in the future, just pay the refundable deposit again and we’ll restore your access to the system.
